Food is Medicine…

We aim to equip kids and adults with food knowledge that can literally save their life.

Our Why

Founder, Kat Robinson, and her family had a long season of constant sickness. After rounds of antibiotics and not feeling well for years, they decided their diet needed to change. Lots of food documentaries and conversations with healthy friends helped them learn how to eat real food and feel GOOD. Since that day, Kat and several nutrition-minded friends have been on a mission to teach and share with anyone willing to heal their body with food.

The number 1 killer in the United States is Food.

Unhealthy diet contributes to approximately 678,000 deaths each year in the U.S. due to nutrition and obesity related diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. (per the CDC 2016)

That’s 1858 people who die PER DAY because of what they feed their body.

The typical American diet is too high in calories, saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars, and does not have enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, calcium, and fiber. Such a diet contributes to some of the leading causes of death and increases the risk of numerous diseases, including:

  • heart disease;

  • diabetes;

  • obesity;

  • high blood pressure;

  • stroke;

  • osteoporosis;

  • cancers, including cervical, colon, gallbladder, kidney, liver, ovarian, uterine, and postmenopausal breast cancers; leukemia; and esophageal cancer (after researchers took smoking into account). (US Dept of Ag USDA 2010)

And our statistics here in Oklahoma are disproportionately worse. Living in North Tulsa vs South Tulsa can change your life expectancy by up to 20 years! (THD 2018)

So what’s the problem?

For some people its access to real food, but for most it’s understanding how much our diet really matters.

How do we intend to help?

We will help with school gardens to keep kids engaged in their own learning environment.

We will teach in classrooms and in small groups.

We will have field trips and group tours here at the farm. Science has proven that long term memories are tied to emotion. So with all the sights, sounds, smells and tastes that can be experienced here in person, we believe strongly that getting people ON the farm helps them remember and understand even more about their health.

But we can do very little of this without your help!
